ABOUT CASE
CASE is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation which aims to serve the Hay community and surrounding areas to:
# Support people who have suffered loss from suicide of a
loved one. # Educate the entire community about the signs to look for which may help identify a person contemplating suicide. # Educate people so they can offer support to people at risk, whether they are in a crisis moment or not. |
# Encourage the community to have an attitude of caring for
each other. # Develop mental health resources and information for the community. # Educate and encourage the community to see mental illnesses without stigma. |
CASE is a group of people who are concerned for the Hay community. They give people the opportunity to empower themselves and their families and to form a network of people who can support each other within the community.
It works with the whole community in a proactive way, with the aim to educate and support the community rather than providing therapy. They encourage people to utilise professional resources and support services.
CASE is currently working closely with the CORES (Community Response to Eliminating Suicide) group in Tasmania to provide suicide awareness and mental health first aid training to the Hay community. Fundraising is being sought to provide this training for little, or no cost to the participants.
Monthly meetings are held to reinforce training, foster mutual support and provide a venue for people to speak.
